Cow leather
To keep the original features as true as possible a Casein process (egg white proteins are the main ingredient) is used on the surface of the leather. The leather is tanned by a traditional "Vachetta method" where the vegetable tan is combined with the tallow of beef. The finish results look sheen and glossy with moderate grain patterns. As the leather is used, the surface gradually lusters and the color will darken. For maintenance, wipe only with a dry, clean cloth as the leather already consists of high oil content.

Box shoulder
No 8035
Cow leather
The leather is made by the Vachetta method, a traditional Italian tanning technique used for over 1,000 years. The finish intentionally leaves traces of the animal’s original characteristics including wrinkles, moles and blood streaks. This irregularity in the finished product is not a defect, but a feature of the natural leather. A special finish is also applied after the product is dyed to produce a unique appearance. Tanned slowly with extracted plant bark and carefully greased with beef leg oil. Greasing with this oil is not an easy process. The oil takes time and effort to penetrate into the material, but in the end, it will soak well into the leather, ensuring the oil content is not easily lost with age. Over time the leather ages beautifully and changes into a deeper, more resilient, supple and glossy texture.
