A pair of this scissors is made by hands on every process that follows traditional manufacturing techniques in Umeki Hondane Basami. The blades forged soft iron and steel twist like a propeller, and are used with sharpening by touching each other at only one point. This process is said to allow scissors to stay sharp for 10 years without being sharpened. The weight of scissors gives a good stability due to being made by iron. You can choose scissor's size, depending on the purposes such as for cutting paper, cloth, food and gardening. The small size (4) is the best for fine work such as cutting thread. The largest size (8) can be used as sewing scissors. With its beautiful appearance, it can be used as an everyday tool for a long time.

【梅木本種子鋏製作所】 The craftsman, Shoji Umeki, learned and inherited the forging techniques that have been handed down for 37 generations in Tanegashima in Japan. Although many craftsmen with excellent forging skills had lived in Tanegashima where high quality iron sand has been available from a long time ago, there is only one company at the moment, Umeki Hondane, that produces handmade scissors and knives using the traditional forging method.

*The handles are coated with oil to prevent rust, having a baking finish in the production process. However, the oil may stick to your hands in the early stages of use. Please wipe it off carefully with a cloth before use.
