From the A&S Archives collection, this women’s Back open woven tee features a simple crew-neck blouse design, accented with a full back opening. The fabric is crafted from carefully selected ramie fibers and naturally dyed with sumi ink (from Nara Prefecture), traditionally used in calligraphy and ink painting. The fabric undergoes a unique washing process, without silket finishing, resulting in a lightweight, soft drape and a natural, sun-dried-like finish that eliminates any stiffness. Available in two colors: Light and Dark.

Sumizome

Instead of charcoal, soot made from burning rapeseed oil and pine resin is used to create the sumi ink (produced in Nara Prefecture), which is traditionally used in calligraphy and ink painting, and now employedin the dyeing process.

MATERIAL

This fabric is made from carefully selected ramie fibers spun in Japan, resulting in an extremely delicate 100% ramie textile that has been dyed with natural dyes. Instead of charcoal, soot derived from burning rapeseed oil and pine resin is used to create the sumi ink (produced in Nara Prefecture), which serves as the dyeing solution.

Caution

*The color and appearance of the dyed fabric may vary slightly depending on the season and environment in which it is dyed, and there may be some color changes due to storage conditions and usage over time. However, this is a characteristic of natural dyes and not a result of dyeing techniques. Unlike chemical dyes, natural dyes evolve and mature, so please enjoy the deep and beautiful colors of natural dyes as they age over time.

*Please handle with care as this is a delicate material. There is a risk of tearing if subjected to stress.

*Due to the use of natural dyes and dyeing methods, there may be slight color variations and irregularities in each piece. Thank you for your understanding.

*Due to the natural dyeing process, dye transfer and staining are inevitable. If the dye is transferred to a washable item, it can be removed to some extent by normal washing, but please be careful when wearing it, especially with light-colored items.

*Unlike synthetic dyes, natural dyes have weaker colorfastness, so wear and abrasion from friction may occur, and the color will fade over time. Please understand that these changes are part of the charm of natural dyeing.

*Due to the characteristics of the material, there is a possibility of color transfer from rain, water, sweat, etc., so please be careful when wearing with white or light-colored items.

Care instructions

*When washing, there is a risk of color transfer, so please avoid washing with white or light-colored items, and use a neutral detergent without bleach.

*Please refrain from using bleach as natural dyes may fade or transfer color.

*Please avoid using detergents with fluorescent agents or bleach, as they may cause uneven coloration.

*When drying, please hang in a well-ventilated area in the shade.

*When washing, please wash separately with a neutral detergent, and avoid dry cleaning.

*Although washing machine use is possible, we recommend hand washing to preserve the color for a longer period
