A Smocking shirt from the ZANINI × ARTS&SCIENCE Collaboration Collection. This piece is crafted from A&S’s original fabric, “High count special cotton 60,” using a ZANINI pattern. A slip-on shirt featuring fine hand smocking on the front, back, and cuffs. The hand smocking is the work of artisans in Aomori. The fabric is made from an exceptionally rare extra-long staple cotton, woven to the highest possible density, resulting in a material that combines a refined crispness with a smooth texture. Finished with an embroidered [ZANINI with A&S] tag. Available in three colors: French blue navy, Off white and Black.

【Marco Zanini】
Born in 1971 to an Italian father and Swedish mother, Marco Zanini was raised in Milan. In 2009, he became the head of the prêt-à-porter collection at ROCHAS, and in 2013, he took on the role of Creative Director at Schiaparelli. His varied career includes a collaboration with Santoni in 2017, and in 2018, he launched his independent eponymous brand. In 2022, we embarked on the ZANINI with A&S venture.

A&S standard fabric. Suvin cotton is selected, the finest Indian super-long cotton for warp and weft threads. A Shuttle JQ loom is used to weave to the maximum density. This is a simple shirt fabric, but special in its smoothness and finished in a hand-woven, handmade look.
*Shuttle JQ loom: A loom that weaves at only 1/10 to 1/20 of the speed of the shuttle-less machines commonly used in modern production. Also extremely inefficient loom to handle because it requires a lot of manual labor by the weaver in the process. However, the slow and careful weaving process produces a warm, handmade look as a result. In addition, the high-density weaves make the cotton highly durable and clothes produced in this fabric can be used for a long time.
