The lantern bag has been reimagined as a backpack, the Oval lantern back pack. Featuring a simple design, the leather cord threaded through the opening doubles as the shoulder straps. A zippered pocket on the back panel allows convenient access to items while carrying the bag. The leather is a rare Japanese kip leather, tanned using an eco-friendly technique called Portilla tanning, which utilizes non-toxic organophosphate-based tanning agents. The finish preserves the natural texture of the leather, resulting in a more supple feel than conventional kip leather.
*The length of the leather strap that becomes the shoulder is not adjustable.

This rare Japanese kip leather is processed using a unique technique called Portilla tanning, developed independently by Japanese tanners. The process employs a non-toxic organic phosphate-based tanning agent, designed to be environmentally friendly and highly biodegradable, aligning with the SDGs framework. The technique preserves the natural texture of the leather, finishing it only with dye. The result is a supple texture, setting it apart from traditional kip leather and combining innovation with sustainability.

*Because of the finish that takes advantage of the texture of the leather itself, the individuality of the animal itself (wrinkles, moles, bloodstains, scars, etc.) may be seen through the leather thinly.
