Tenjiku jersey, loopwheel-knitted from softly twisted, thick-count cotton twin yarns. The loopwheel machines used—now few in number and highly prized—were widely used around the world from the 1950s to the 1960s. Suspended from the ceiling, these machines knit fabric in a tubular form, with the yarn slowly fed downward under its own weight. This method ensures that no unnecessary tension is applied, producing a fabric with an airy, soft texture and gentle, natural fullness.
