Arts & Science has produced a special planner cover tailored to fit the English version of the Hobonichi Techo Planner. We have integrated the details of our representative wallet style, the “Jabara wallet” into a planner design, featuring a leather belt that fastens with a button stud. On the interior there is a pocket to hold your smartphone. We have selected an Italian made vegetable tanned cow leather with natural grains in two basic colorways, Dark brown and Black. The more you use the cover the more the leather will shine and show its deep textures. Please enjoy the supple and beautiful ageing features of this cover.

The leather is using Vachetta method, which is a traditional Italian tanning way having been used for more than 1,000 years. The leather sometimes seems to have animal’s own characteristics such as wrinkles, moles and blood streaks because we processed it, leveraging the quality of leather itself. The irregularity in the product is not a defect, but a feature of natural leather. Special finishing is also applied after product dyeing to produce a unique appearance. It is tanned slowly with tannin extracted from plant bark mainly and carefully greased with beef leg oil. The beef leg oil is not easy to penetrate and takes time and effort, but it soaks into the leather well. So the oil content is not easily lost. The more it is used, the stronger it becomes, and more it becomes shiny, supple, and beautifully aged.

*Because of the finish that takes advantage of the texture of the leather itself, the individuality of the animal itself (wrinkles, moles, bloodstains, scars, etc.) may be seen through the leather thinly. This is not a defect but a characteristic of natural leather. Please understand it as a characteristic of leather and individual differences.
